EP82: The Enrichment Approach with Family Homeostasis and Fight or Flight
Wednesday Nov 24, 2021
Wednesday Nov 24, 2021
I used a word play about a turkey wishbone. Then, I used a quote from Star Wars actor James Earl Jones about stuttering. Next, I talked about homeostasis and equilibrium.
In this week's RITE OF PASSAGE EXPERIENCES or ROPE, I talked about how many parents tried to keep the family equilibrium. My dad sometimes got upset with my inability to keep up with my family and friends. My disability and processing issues were not treated as reasonable factors in different situations. Handwriting and physical therapy issues were hard for me to negotiate/articulate. I ended the episode and talked about cognitive dissonance and the emotional connection that developed between me and my crutches.
